Volunteer Update

International Focus is looking for volunteers to serve on our International Festival of Raleigh Committee!

As we prepare for October 14th 2023’s International Festival of Raleigh, we are looking for AMAZING volunteers to join our Festival Committee. The Committee relies on enthusiastic and committed members to deliver its program. 

You will be part of Team International Focus! We are passionate to bring back our iconic Festival, and this year it will return –bringing a new breath to our community; we are also eager to maintain our role as a pivotal non-profit organization that delivers unique cultural and artistic opportunities in the Research Triangle area. We hope you are excited to help us make the festival possible in its post COVID edition!

Internship Program

College students gain excellent work and portfolio experience by assisting on projects aligned with your interests. Positions include data maintenance, research, communication, marketing, planning for international delegations, and helping produce the International Festival of Raleigh. Applicants should have interest in cross-cultural communication, political science, international affairs, communication, history, media, or event planning. Students must be willing to work at least nine hours per week.

Whether you are interested in event planning, designing programs for international delegations, connecting with the business community, or crafting stories and outreach tools, we have a spot for you. Positions and assignments are tailored to your intersts and the time commitment you can make.

Current Volunteer/Intern Positions

As a member of the International Focus social media team, you help populate our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linkedin feeds with creative, engaging copy. Responsibilities may include creating design, writing messages, developing a social media campaign, or designing a social media calendar.
As a member of the International Focus grant writing team, you help direct a team of interns to research and write for grants. Grant writers should have at least basic grant writing experience and knowledge of grant systems and expectations.
Help us tell a visual story of international understanding! Members of the International Focus multimedia team will take pictures and footage of our international delegations and events for social media and the IF blog and create video of the international communities of the Triangle among other exciting visual projects.
Help International Focus fundraise and engage the community! Members of the development team help plan and implement creative ways to raise money, such as partnership programs, online campaigns, fundraising events, and more. Activities include assisting with research, event creation, campaign design, and various others.
Help us engage and reward existing members and attract new ones! International Focus’ membership team brainstorms member events, creates and implements membership discount and reward programs, and designs membership communication. Volunteers only.
Members of the event marketing team help plan and implement promotion of International Focus events, such as the International Festival of Raleigh, the Home is Distant Shores Film Festival, the Global Talks speaker series, Coffee with Emerging Leaders, and others. Activities include advertising, coordinating social media campaigns, posting to calendars, creating marketing pieces, and partnership and guerilla marketing.

Do you have strong writing and/or design skills? Do you enjoy crafting impactful messages? As an International Focus communications volunteer, you can put your mark on how we talk to the world. Activities range from creating newsletters, populating our community calendar, or helping put together webpages to writing press releases and other creative tasks that involve writing, design, and communication.

Ongoing Volunteer/Intern Positions

Programming

Assist our Program Directors with the coordination of incoming delegations and professional and youth exchanges. This might include researching professional contacts, writing narratives, planning itineraries, or assisting the delegations while they are in town.

 

Event Planning
From membership receptions and speaker series to cultural events and our flagship International Festival of Raleigh, there are many ways to be involved with International Focus events. Program and venue planning, marketing, production, and facilitating at the event itself are just some examples of how you can help create outstanding experiences for our participants.
