International visitors appreciate the rewarding cultural and personal experience of sharing dinner or homestay with IF members. These more personal opportunities enhance the visitor’s overall travel experience, while providing IF members and their families with a similarly rewarding exchange. Local volunteers and members can also “discover the world in Raleigh” by volunteering for and/or participating in the International Festival of Raleigh!
A HOMESTAY INVOLVES typically three to five days, places the visitor in a private bedroom in your home and at your table for family meals. We encourage hosts to share their lives and interests, whether by touring favorite local sites, visiting a museum, or attending a sporting event. For visitors, weekdays are filled with meetings and professional exchange.
HOME HOSPITALITY INCLUDES a home-cooked meal, or even a potluck with neighbors or a picnic outing, with one to four international guests. The goal of home hospitality is the sharing of a good meal and a warm welcome. Nothing fancy is required!
OUR GUESTS ARE emerging leaders from around the world. Participants are identified by U.S. embassies as persons of rising influence with whom the United States wishes to build and foster strong bi-lateral relationships. These programs pick the best and brightest: one-third of current global heads of state are visitor program alumni!
AS AN INTERNATIONAL FOCUS MEMBER, you serve as a representative of our region, state, and nation. Hosting offers IF members the opportunity to serve the cause of improved global understanding.
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS MAKE THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL POSSIBLE, from planning to clean-up, each step of the Festival operates with the help of dedicated, creative people who donate their time and talents. Volunteer assignments are available to fit many interests and schedules. Festival volunteers serve in varying capacities as committee members and/or event day volunteers. Festival volunteers ensure the success of our signature annual event.
