International Art Show

Who We Are

Where are you from?  Do you trace your origins to another continent?  What about another region of the US?  Where are you – both physically and mentally – in relation to where you are from and where you are now?  Perhaps your family has been here for generations.  Perhaps you recently arrived.  Whether for reunions, business, study, or because of natural or economic hardships or persecutions – the reasons to immigrate are as varied as the people now residing in America.

Where are you now?  Why do you live where you currently reside?  Does your life reflect the culture from which you came, or the culture of where you are now?  Does it depict how you relate to your past or present circumstances?  If so, this show is for you.

This juried show will feature 2- and 3-dimensional works in oils, acrylics, watercolors, photography, and collage.

Opening night will be a virtual, online event of art, music, dance performances, and interviews on Thursday June 24, at 7pm EDT.  All artworks and artist’s information will be featured on InternationalFocus.org for one month.  After the show, a video of the opening night will be put on IF’s YouTube channel indefinitely.

Our juror for this show, Shirley Cadmus is an accomplished potter, photographer, painter, digital artist, and instructor.  Our emcee will be Kezia Wafula, recent Meredith graduate and president of Meredith International Organization. Performances will include the Durham African American Dance Ensemble and CJ Suitt, Poet Laureate of Chapel Hill, among others.
